A Sample of a Weekly Plan

I sat down today and tried to make some sense of all the chaos that is our school area. So many books! Anyways, here are some of my thoughts in my scattered mind of what we will do come September. (Please let me know your thoughts Rachel, am I doing it right?)

I hope to organise school work by week rather then by day.

Here is a sample of what a week would look like;

Math: I am not sure how the lesson plans look with Math-U-See as I haven't gotten the workbook yet, but I plan to do math every day, moving ahead as concepts are grasped

Reading:  One lesson in 'the Reading Lesson', (2 or 3 pages a day) I am also hoping to get Jem on Starfall if we are able to get our older computer working again

Writing: One lesson in 'A Reason for Handwriting' , plus a practice lesson sheet per day

Unit Study: Follow the plan as outlined in 'Come Sit By Me' for each week

Science: Three science project per week using the 'ScienceWiz' kits I got

Bible: Read and discuss 1 Q&A from 'the Answers Book for Kids' on Sunday, regular family devotions nightly, family memory verse review daily, one memory verse per week or month

So I am feeling very unsure of myself with all this, am I doing enough? to much? what is required of me? do I have a set amount of weeks I need to school? will this be covering everything that BC requires?

Helping Dad

Jem had a great learning time with Daddy on Saturday. Putting in a new sink and doing some plumbing, as well as helping Daddy with screwing in the shelf. He was really watching and learning! And now I have a full bathroom downstairs finally, Yay!

Afternoon at the beach

We all had fun exploring at the beach yesterday! Jem found lots of dead crabs, and we watched a live one doing it's funny side walk across the sand. Jem and I enjoyed feeling the different types of seaweed that were floating around. The girls preferred to stay away from it though, to yucky I guess. It was a little cloudy but the water was fairly warm and we had a really great time!

Lydia is 1

My baby turned 1 on June 30th... here she is with her special blankie. She has been walking for nearly a week, my earliest walker yet!

6 Years Old!

Jem turned 6 on June 23! He had a fun day with cousins and sisters, and loved his new LEGO set, as well as a great floor puzzle and school books from Auntie.
