Crafts and Jumping

We had a fun craft time/outside time today, despite the silly weather... Sun, rain, sun, rain, thunder... I guess that's spring! 🌞 ☔⛅🌷

What have we been up to lately??

---School over view of what we've been up too. Ant study, math, lots of read aloud (this is only a few of the books, I am reading everyday with them for 1/2 hour, so we gets lots done) copy work, oral dictation... and as shown below, lots of creative play!---

---Jem used his own strength (with some help from preggo mama) to build this driftwood fort! (It was half built, but he made the roof and one wall) ---

---Spool knitting was a hit for a day or so, but they got board of just long chains, I might look into a bigger set so they can make something else too.---

Spring Nature Walk (april 10, 2017)

A beautiful spring day. I am braving the scattered rain showers and hanging my laundry out. We enjoyed a ramble in the pasture this morning, exploring and catching some sort of tadpole eggs. We shall have to do some research into them!

Community Study

Over the last week, besides phonics and math, Jem has been making a community map. We drew out roads and Jem named them. He gave me a list of places in a community that he wanted on his map. Fire Station, Airport, Gym, Church, Library, Police, Hospital, Grocery Store ect...

I also read the story 'Tashira's Turn' out loud to the children, and they enjoyed hearing how each person in Tashira's town helped others.  And in the end it is Tashira's turn to help!

Carrot cake

Jem made carrot cake. He found the recipe page number, read the measurements with some help and did most of the rest on his own! He really enjoyed serving it up to the family. It was so good!
